Raincoats, Pea Coats and Trenches: The Long Jacket Trend for Spring 2014

Canada’s weather is difficult to dress for; thankfully, the season’s trending lengthy jackets offer coverage and protection from the unpredictable elements while remaining breathable and easy to carry.

Menswear labels such as Fendi, Hermes and Paul Smith offered more practical styles from summery, laid-back raincoats and trenches to more formal overcoats. Carven, John Galliano and Gucci showed more adventurous colours, textures and silhouettes.

Mui Mui, Burberry Prorsum, Dries Van Noten and DKNY displayed minimalistic, classic womenswear styles. Alexander Wang and Salvatore Ferragamo suggest surprising cuts and DKNY, Fendi and Ralph Lauren opted for ornaments, standout prints, graphic abstraction and lettering.

As this practical and versatile trend is offered in conservative styles for a more traditional look, as well as more eccentric approaches for the more demanding young professional trendsetters, there seems to be a jacket suited for every YP this spring.
