Preview Harry Rosen Fall and Winter 2011

Notable was invited to an intimate preview of the Harry Rosen Fall/Winter 2011 collection at the expansive Bloor Street location, and what’s in store for the cooler seasons ahead are some hot styles. Harry Rosen, which already boasts one of the most impressive selections of menswear labels to be found in Canada, recently added Ralph Lauren Black Label, and Isaia, Brunello Cucinelli, and House of Lanvin are on slate for the Fall/Winter season.

One of the upcoming trends in men’s suits is a continuation of the trimmed down evolution we’ve seen consistently over the past few years. More modern takes show thinner lapels, slimmed down trousers with narrower leg openings, and evermore popular spread collars on shirts, while updates on the 3-piece classic see a more form-fitted silhouette and sophisticated lapels on vests. Both modern and classic styles are starting to shorten the length of jackets. The shades are black, grey, and navy, but different than standard hues like Parisian blue and warm charcoal.

Men’s outerwear is seeing some interesting updates on the classic peacoat, while Canada Goose parkas are adding vibrant colours, and are accessories taking a more central role in winter wardrobes, like aviator hats and crinkled scarves. Layering for warmth is key, and the new wave of men’s outerwear is a perfect example of fashion meeting function. Check out some of the looks from today’s preview below.
