Yup, Someone Went Ahead and Made a Poutine Lip Balm

This week in unnecessary excellence, we got whiff of news that someone – a Canadian, obviously – has reduced Canada’s national dish into a daily cosmetic.

La Poutine is a poutine lip balm created by Edmonton’s La Poutine restaurant and food truck in collaboration with Wild Prairie Soap Company.

“It’s unique, it’s different. It’s out of the box. And you wear can it all day. It’s kind of comforting,” says La Poutine co-owner Lindsey Robbins of the delicacy.

The inspiration – beyond recognizing that people out there embraced KFC’s fried chicken-scented sunscreen, so why the hell not? – is unclear.

And like KFC, the recipe is top secret. What we do know is that the balm is made with a base of sweet almond oil, beeswax, and cocoa butter. The gravy scent was developed by a company that specialized in flavour profiles.

Stocking stuffer of the year, surely.
