The 10 Costumes That You Will See Everywhere this Halloween

Every year, there are certain costumes that you can almost guarantee you will see absolutely everywhere you go.

Now if you’re okay with being a little basic this Halloween, then by all means, go for it. However, if you’re one of those people who lives for the opportunity to dress up, then maybe steer clear of the following costumes if you really want to stand out from the crowd.

1. Harley Quinn/Joker
Even though Suicide Squad was kind of terrible, it’s easy to see why Harley Quinn will be a popular choice this Halloween. The booty-shorts-and-streaky-makeup look is the perfect combination of sexy and scary.

2. Snapchat Filters
Who doesn’t love Snapchat’s super-cute filters? Whether the doggy face is your go-to, or you’re more of a butterfly person, chances are you’ll see a bunch of people with Snapchat-inspired Halloween makeup.

3. Pokémon Go
While the app is probably gathering virtual dust on all of our phones right now, Pokémon Go costumes are still trending for Halloween 2016. After all, there are so many potential characters to dress up as: whether you go as a trainer, a pokéball, or good ol’ Pikachu, the Poké-possibilities are endless.

4. Ghostbusters
It’s topical, comfortable, and will keep you warm while your friend is freezing her ass off in a Harley Quin get up. If we had to give an award for the most popular group costume of 2016, it would definitely go to Ghostbusters.

5. Ken Bone
All you need is a red sweater, a fake mustache and a pair of glasses to dress up as this US presidential debate social media star. Bonus points if you get a disposable camera to snap pics all night.

6. Deadpool
After the movie smashed box office records this summer, there is no doubt that you’ll see dozens of Deadpools out and about. Whether they’ll all have Ryan Reynolds’ enviable quick wit is another story.

7. Harambe
This list wouldn’t be complete without a Hallow-meme costume and this one definitely takes the cake. While it’s certainly a little crass (and don’t even get us started on the “sexy” versions), we sure that won’t stop people from dressing up as America’s long-lost buddy, Harambe.

8. Eleven from Stranger Things
The breakout star from Netflix’s hit summer show is another trendy option this year. While you could really commit to the look by shaving your head, it would probably be easier to throw on a blonde wig and call it a day.

9. Hilary Clinton/Donald Trump
You can’t go on the internet these days without seeing something related to the US election. You’re not winning any costume contests dressed up as these two, but it’s a solid choice if you need a last-minute costume.

10. Dead Celebs
We think it’s fair to guess that David Bowie and Prince — both iconic and top of mind in 2016 — will be making appearances at Halloween parties all over the world. Too soon? Maybe, but a Zombie Prince look done right would be pretty cool.

So now that you have some ideas of what not to wear this Halloween (you’re welcome), we want to help you out some more by giving away 10 sets of tickets to our Notable Halloween party. To enter, post a #TBT or a #FBF post on social media featuring your favourite past costumes and use the hashtag #NotableHalloween. Did we mention that every ticket comes with two complimentary drinks upon entry?

Winners will be picked on Friday Oct 22. Good luck.
