Always a sure sign that summer is in full swing, it’s a soiree that gets all the pretty people out sporting their most polished attire, complete with fascinator.
Adding to the Deighton Cup fun are two additional events that we think might pique the interest of young professionals looking for an action-packed way to spend the weekend.
The Big Smoke lights things up come Friday evening with a refined night of cigars and scotch (and a sneak peek of what’s ahead for the weekend). Though the prix fixe dinner has long since sold out, there are still tickets available for the evening’s jazz-infused party. Try your hand at classic trackside gaming and ease into the festive mood.
Come Saturday, gear up early for a full day of fun in the sun (we’ll be there to capture it all). Hundreds of stylish Vancouverites will converge on Hastings Racecourse for Thoroughbred, the signature anchor event that started it all.
Now celebrating its 5th anniversary, attendees who have snagged their $65 ticket can meander their way throughout the designated party space overlooking the races, try their hand at betting, and nosh on delectable bites, champagne and craft cocktails.
Always worth nothing: there will be plenty of live entertainment, DJ beats to set the mood, photo-ops and opportunities to mix and mingle with city influencers and movers and shakers alike.
The party doesn’t end at the track on Saturday; if you (and your liver, for that matter) are up for it, head downtown to The Imperial at 319 Main Street for the After Party celebrations. Chill out to DJ SKLA alongside a few hundred other revelers as you party alongside the winner’s circle with your complimentary bevy upon arrival.
Rounding up the weekend festivities is Julep, a special industry-geared event meant to let those hardworking hospitality pros unwind trackside. Of course, they’re not letting all the collective mixologist talent go to waste; a live Mint Julep Mixology competition is set to ensue with some major prizing up for grabs, along with live music and derby races.
