If you’re looking to have a meeting over coffee somewhere other than downtown Calgary, then you must head over Phil & Sebastian’s Marda Loop location. Light wood, high ceilings and plenty of natural light give it a great atmosphere for catching up with friends, or even enjoying a hot beverage with a great read.
The coffee at Phil & Sebastian’s is possibly the best in the city – really. These guys are serious about coffee. P&S (as it’s known to their regulars) has regular tasting events and their baristas undergo extensive training, many of whom have won national barista competitions. Phil & Sebastian’s was started by two engineers who were inspired by their love of both Calgary and coffee, and decided to quit their jobs to start a roasting operation. The thing that really distinguishes P&S from other Calgary coffee shops is the passion and knowledge that is brought to every cup of coffee they sell. They take the same attitude towards coffee as many people would towards a fine wine. The founders make sure that they engage in green buying practices when purchasing their coffee after getting to know the people involved in producing it. They also sell their coffee wholesale, along with T-Shirts and coffee brewing equipment.
Their Americano comes highly recommended, and you can’t leave without trying one of their delicious pain au chocolat. Phil and Sebastian’s also serves a variety of sandwiches, salads and pastries, all of which are made in-house. They bring the same passion they have towards coffee to the food they sell, and feature local ingredients from small farms.
