Our Favourite Lounges in Vancouver

We’re all about sleuthing out the best bar seats to fix a classic cocktail cure, especially one that helps with that inevitable turkey hangover. We`ve concocted a noteworthy list of piano bars and classic cocktail lounges that we think fit the bill.

Gotham Steakhouse and Cocktail Bar is a classic, classy spot exuding old-school charm steps from Vancouver`s financial district and stumbling distance to Gastown. Dark wood, vaulted ceilings, live music and the perfect little nook await; all the better to the see and be seen.

Next up, Bacchus Piano Lounge at the Wedgewood Hotel gets our vote. Score a spot tucked close to the fire and relax surrounded by plush surroundings, impeccable service and plenty of cocktails to keep you going. Take in the sounds of their live, nightly piano sessions while grabbing a light snack. Be sure to pack a few extra business cards; this spot is a favourite of Vancouver`s movers and shakers, translating to plenty of possible YP networking opportunities.

Another favourite spot to score a great drink, minus the pretension, has got to be the bar at Bluewater Cafe in Yaletown. Known for their seafood, made-to-order sushi and bustling atmosphere, in our Notable books, the bar is where it`s at.  Parmesan breadsticks aside (guaranteed, you`ll down a dozen or so), we love the craft cocktail and wine selection on offer. The best part about the bar at Bluewater Cafe is the people-watching vantage point it offers in a hip, lively atmosphere.

One more to add to our suggested cocktail lounge picks in the city is Yaletown’s George Ultra Lounge. One of the original cocktail spots to liven up the Yaletown scene nearly 10 years ago, George led the way with crafted drink offerings that caught the city`s cocktail connoisseurs and night owls alike by storm. Taste test their Kentucky Dust or Vanilla Pisco Sour; bet you can`t stop at just one round.
