Oscar Worthy: Leo’s Former Assistant Reveals What it’s Like to Work for Him

At some point, we’ve all fantasized what it might be like to hang out with Leonardo DiCaprio and see what he’s actually like off camera.

Well, one lucky woman had the opportunity to not only hang out with him, but work for him as his assistant – and it turns out he’s even better than you ever imagined.

That’s right,  just when you thought you couldn’t love him any more, he goes and wins our hearts all over again. And for the record, Leo, we would ALWAYS make space on our raft for you.

Actress Kasi Brown was Leo’s personal assistant during the filming of “The Aviator” in 2003, and she shared all of the glorious details of her life-changing experience with the Huffington Post.

Kasi first met Leo through a friend named Kayce Brown (coincidence), who was working as his assistant when he was filming “The Aviator” in Montreal. Kasi traveled to Canada where she hung out with both her friend and Leo.

During the day Brown would visit the set, and at night she, her friend, and DiCaprio “would go out on the town.”

“Those Montreal girls were crazy for him,” said Brown. “One punched me in the arm in a club to get close to him.”

When filming eventually moved to L.A., Kasi already knew Leo, so she took took over the role as his assistant. And from the sound of it, working for Leo is actually pretty great because he’s incredibly down to earth.

“Leo and I always had fun on set,” Brown told The Huffington Post. “[We loved] to observe people and goof around playing characters, doing accents, whatever.”

“Sometimes I would pretend that he was the stereotype of an entitled celebrity and when he would ask me to do something, I would bow and in a beaten-down voice say, ‘Yes, sir, anything you like sir, anything else, sir?’ and he would laugh and tell me to knock it off,” Brown said.

Kasi explained that the experience helped her learn a lot about Leo both on and off screen. She also said he’s a very private person who’s intelligent and knows quite a bit about politics, pop culture, and history.

Leo also laughs well. He apparently has a “wicked sense of humour” and would spend his rare down-time chatting with everybody on the set, including crew and extras.

One specific memory that she shared took place during Halloween while they were filming in Montreal. Leo said he loved the holiday because he was able to walk amongst people and interact with them without recognition while in costume. You know, just taking a break from feeling super popular and beloved by all.

Aside from getting to add that she was Leo’s personal assistant on her resumé, he remained her friend afterwards. She said he still makes an effort to keep in touch with her and has even offered her feedback and encouragement on her own acting projects.

BRB, just seeing if Leo’s looking for a new assistant..
