OPUS Hotel Raises $10K for Unicef at Block Party

To kick off the weekend, Yaletown’s opulent OPUS Hotel hosted a boisterous crowd of YVR’s who’s who at its 10th Annual Block Party. For this year’s celebratory ‘Venice Beach Heat’ theme, the organizers hit their mark – right down to the hot pink VIP carpet we walked upon our arrival.

We walked into (or, rather out) to the block OPUS had shut down for the occasion and were met with a massive crowd of party-goers primed for fun. It was the perfect mix of notable entrepreneurs, business professionals and larger-than-life personalities – just what Friday night calls for.

Circulating the space, we had a chance to catch up with plenty of YPs, grab some obligatory photos to share and managed to find ourselves a Mojito (or two!) en route.

Upping the beach party cool factor were hosts-with-the-most Fiona Forbes (of Shaw’s Urban Rush) and man-about-town columnist Fred Lee, on hand to ensure all had a good time – and to help announce that OPUS Hotel owner, John Evans, had raised another $10,000 for Unicef Canada ($50,000 total!).

We also spotted a few Vancouver Housewives on the prowl, trailed by their film crew (we’re guessing that means season two is a definite).

Guests were treated to fantastic nibbles as well as a great mix of music, courtesy of performer Andrew Allen, matched by some serious DJ beats. What’s a beach party without an obligatory bikini show? OPUS certainly didn’t disappoint revellers and onlookers who seemed to secure said vantage point.
