On Our Radar: We Get the Scoop on Soft Peaks

We scream, you scream… whatever, just give us the damn ice cream.

Vancouver has definitely seen a slew of ice cream and gelato shops open over the past year or so. An ice cream cone is far less damage than a box of cookies, right? We’ll justify anything when it comes to our sweet tooth.

We were excited to get the scoop (we had to) on the newest to join the scene: Soft Peaks.

Except there will be a twist. Quite literally.

Soft Peaks’ ice cream offering will be soft serve and made from organic milk.

That’s like classic childhood memories and adult life eating coming together for guilt-free goodness. Especially since soft serve is lower in fat than traditional ice cream.

The Soft Peaks signature topping will be a piece of fresh honeycomb, but more premium toppings will be available to suit all different taste palettes.

Opening in Gastown – one neighbourhood yet to have a trendy ice cream or gelato spot – Soft Peaks will make the BC Market Company heritage building at 25 Alexander their home in a two-level, loft-like space. Amber Kingsnorth of MaK Interiors has been commissioned to lead the look and feel for Soft Peaks set to open in the New Year.

For Vancouver brothers Dan and Ken Kim, opening Soft Peaks means that not only will they be adding to the vibrant business community, but as foodies always on the lookout for something new, they are excited to bring a healthier take on one of their favourite treats to the city.

Our mouth is already watering already for a taste – we’ll see you in line come January.
