On Our Radar: Living Produce Aisle Gives Yaletown an Indoor Garden

You may gave noticed the greenery covering the window along Hamilton Street in Yaletown and immediately thought, “Oh, another salad bar or juicer…”

And while smoothies will be available at this spot, it’s not what you think.

Something really fresh is coming soon.

In fact, it’s about as fresh as it gets.

We’re talking micro greens and herbs continuously growing in what is pretty much a real garden. Only indoors.

Living Produce Aisle, run by Urban Cultivator, will open their new location, serving customers and commercial spots alike.

Surrounded by premiere restaurants, condo dwellers, and health-conscious community members, the new and growing (literally) concept seems like the perfect fit for Yaletown.

If you aren’t familiar with Urban Cultivator, it’s essentially a unit that houses a garden indoors, allowing you to have access to the freshest produce at next to nothing. (Looking at long-term costs, of course.)

Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver’s Ned Bell is already a fan and the official Urban Cultivator Corporate Chef – so you know this mighty machine means business.

Though the exact date is yet to be determined, at some point in February you can expect 1400 sq. ft. at 1168 Hamilton St. to be filled to the brim with greens, serving up smoothies, and educating customers on the Urban Cultivator Commercial or Residential Unit – both of which will be available for purchase.

And suddenly, it’s beginning to look like spring already.
