On Our Radar: Ed’s Real Scoop on Roncesvalles

Now that the weather seems to have finally decided that the teens are a decent place to be in April, we thought we’d let you know one of the newest and best ways Westsiders can cool (their mouths) down. Ed’s Real Scoop recently opened up its third location at 189 Roncesvalles Ave.

These ice cream aficionados have been providing the East End of Toronto with delicious dessert options for years from both their Beaches location and Leslieville store. Now it’s Roncy’s turn to get into these tasty treats. All the ice cream is made in-store, and beyond the collection of standard flavours you’ll also find exciting tastes like Maple Bacon …Crunch!, PB and Jelly, and Crème Brulée. Ed’s assemblage of sorbet and gelato is equally as impressive (we suggest the Blood Orange or Red Hot Chile Chocolate), not to mention the selection of cookies that include Oreos dipped in Callebaut Belgian Chocolate.

The store itself is much like Ed’s other locations except that it has a huge ice cream kitchen in the back that they’re hoping will soon be the new home of a distribution centre so you can get Ed’s in restaurants all around the city (they’re still in the paperwork process). Of course, if you’re in the mood for a local flavour you should try the Cherry Bomb espresso ice cream, made with beans from one of our favourite coffee shops just down the street. We don’t know about you, but after a winter that never seemed as though it would end we’re pretty happy to be talking ice cream. Almost as happy as we’d be if we had one right now.
