On Our Radar: Byblos Restaurant

In less than two weeks the team behind high-end Toronto dining destinations Weslodge and Patria will be opening Byblos (11 Duncan Street), an Eastern Mediterranean effort that will span two floors of the historic STORYS building located in the heart of T.O.’s Entertainment District.

Executive Chef Stuart Cameron has put together a menu that is intended to be enjoyed family-style. You’ll find everything from lamb, duck, and octopus, to daily fish and vegetarian options. Authentic argan and olive oils, traditional plates and tea wares, along with local beers and wines will also be available to enhance your eating experience and help you imagine you’re not still suffering through winter.

Original cocktails created by House Alchemist Wes Galloway will pay homage to the ports and towns of the coastal Mediterranean and Middle East. They’ll all be crafted with housemade tonics, bitters, and garnishes that are unique to Byblos. The one we’re looking forward to? The Rotating Punch Bowl – intended for 3-6 people to share. Or, you know, just you on a lonely night.

The 170-year-old brick and beam building has hosted some of TIFF’s top parties the last few years so we’re pretty sure the ambiance will be as good as it gets. Keep your eyes on Notable.ca for a full article coming soon that will let you know if the rest of the restaurant is too.
