On Our Notable Retail Radar…

September signalled a slew of noteworthy spots to pop up on our radar, as well as a plethora of press releases to land in our Notable inbox. We’ve rounded up a few of our top YP picks we think you ought to take note of here.

Smart young professionals on the hunt for designer looks for less might want to head down to Timeline Consignment Boutique located in Gastown for their next fashion fix. This unique Vancouver boutique (owned by two university friends with an eye for style) just opened its doors over the weekend to rave reviews. Stemming from a deep-rooted desire for designer pieces, minus the designer price tag, owners Azura and Amanda have carefully sourced unique pieces, recycled materials and items to reflect their shared desire and business model that allows consignees the opportunity to have their pieces assessed for sale and then monitor their account from home to see how things are selling – and receive immediate payment. We love the at-home consultations that Timeline offers (for those young professionals feeling a bit overwhelmed by their closet). Find out more here and be sure to pop by their new boutique located at 63 E. Cordova.

Speaking of style news, last week saw an announcement made that we’re sure had a lot of style-savvy readers rejoice: the iconic US-based, family owned mega retailer Nordstrom is set to shift north of the border. This major Seattle-based department store will, sometime in the next few years, take over the current SEARS location in the heart of downtown at the Pacific Centre with several other major Canadian cities scoring the Nordstrom name as well.  We wonder what impact this move might have on Canadian-owned high-end retailer Holt Renfrew.

Not that store size necessarily has anything to do with retail appeal in our books, but we’re as notably excited about the opening of Jeweliette Boutique located at 1090 Hornby Street.  This one-stop shop for all things sparkly arrived on Vancouver’s retail scene over the weekend courtesy of mother-daughter design duo Madalena and daughter Elsa CorsiWe’re excited to see lots of Elsa’s new creations featured at the new family-run boutique, alongside plenty of other favourites such as Jenny Packham and more.  The boutique, anchored by a bright pink, antique bicycle out front, will also feature closed-door appointment bookings for those young professionals looking for a more laidback selection process.
