Now Open: Black Hoof Raw Bar

We've been a huge fan of The Black Hoof for a while now, so we were thrilled to hear that it opened a raw bar just next door last week. Interestingly there are dishes on the menu that feature cooked items, primarily consisting of seafood snacks reflecting high-end pub fare

Foodies were all aflitter again when perennial favourite The Black Hoof added a raw bar to the family last week, completing the trinity we’ve all been expecting for a while now – knowing that the space next to The Black Hoof proper was owned by the Hoof family. And, as to be expected, Jen Agg’s staunch standards when it comes to her food is just as apparent in the new outpost.

Composing a menu that is kind of like a seafood version of the original Hoof, the new Raw Bar – interestingly named considering there are cooked dishes on the list – is a perfect addition to the greatness of the Black Hoof establishments. The space is equally beautiful as The Black Hoof and Cocktail Bar, seats about 30, and is a backdrop purely Toronto.

Right now, there’s a seafood version of a charcuterie board, some smoked shrimp, oysters, and fish snacks that are akin to high-end pub fare. There are obvious Japanese and Asian influences, present, along with some more continental fare. All baring the stamp of purity only the Hoof can deliver. To be certain, the Black Hoof Raw Bar is a welcome addition to the Toronto scene.
