Now Open: Bellwoods Brewery

Toronto’s ever-expanding micro-brew scene got a whole lot hipper recently, with the opening of Bellwoods Brewery on the equally expanding Ossington Avenue. This one-floor + mezzanine space is a beauty of an addition to our resto/beer landscape, and one you need to check out.

It’s part gastropub/part brewery, with strong elements of both. Dining on the mezzanine level gives you ample view of the production below. Vats of fermenting beer shine in the expanse’s light. Chef Guy Rawlings – Lucien and Brockton General – helms the kitchen, serving up high-end pub fare like pork rinds and vinegar, whipped trout, and skewers galore. Bellwoods is also a local supporter, sourcing ingredients and breads from The Black Hoof and Woodlot, respectively.

Luke Pestl and Mike Clark are the duo behind Bellwoods, having worked together at Amsterdam Brewery. The concept has churned out a pretty swish product, perfect for kicking back with some beer and bar snacks. (PS We’re loving the trend of gourmet bar snacks popping up around the city.) Ladies and gents, make way to Bellwoods, and have a notably good time.
