Notably New Spots to Shop in YVR

A few of these hot new shops have been on our radar for a while and have only just recently opened… and just in time for some serious end-of-summer sales and fall-style shopping.

First up, all the way from Down Under, comes Ever New (known as Forever New in other major cities around the world aside from the US, Philippines and now Canada). This on-trend women’s boutique with roots in Melbourne claims quite the following and has us fashionably flexed to do a little damage. The boutique is sleek, sexy and playful – offering shoppers a selection of well-priced clothing, accessories, shoes and plenty more we think is perfect for young professionals searching for an updated and polished look. Ever New promises to ‘celebrate feminine beauty’ and is inspired by global fashion trends that range from theatre to art and music. You can find Ever New located at Vancouver’s Pacific Centre.

Also calling Pacific Centre home is latest US-based brand import Splendid, bringing with it effortless style, bold colours and patterns, and (of course) its famed perfect-fit tee. This ought to be on the discerning radar of YPs looking to increase the selection of simple-chic pieces in their wardrobe for fall. Splendid clothing is built for guys and girls offering an array of cuts, colours and fabrics suitable for work and play, and then some (yup, they’ve got some great casual pieces and outerwear that we think will help transition nicely into fall).

If you’re not done being a mall rat just yet and happen to love those big brand names courtesy of our southern neighbours, you’ll be happy to note that Express also opened its doors this past month at the Pacific Centre in the heart of downtown. Notably savvy young professionals would be remiss not to check out this US-based retailer of fashions and scoop up a few deals to help segue into autumn.  Check out the his and her Denim Lab for an updated look without losing half your paycheque.

A stroll down the street will land you at the recently-opened Camper shoe boutique located at 1101 Robson Street. This family-run Spanish shoe company (established in the 70s) has a loyal following and recently made their official Canadian launch earlier this year in Montreal. Taking over the old Guess boutique, they’ve scored prime real estate perched on the corner of Thurlow and Robson, and boast the creative and architectural efforts of London-based firm Doshi Levien. Quirky and comfortable designs make the investment worth noting.

Coming soon: Just down the road, several other spots are set to open in the very near future. We’ve heard wind that Apple will open a Vancouver flagship store “somewhere” along Robson in the near future – and likely next to the soon-to-open, multi-floor Forever 21 (also along Robson’s main shop-heavy section).
