Notable’s Best of 2013: Toronto Restaurants, Bars and Lounges

It’s pretty amazing what can happen in just 365 days. We spent 24 incredible hours in Cali, ate pizza with Diddy in NYC, après skied in Whistler, worked beachside in Nicaragua, hit Fashion Week like divas, made TIFF our BFF, ate and drank at some of this city’s most spectacular new restaurants and bars, and spoke with celebrities, chefs, movie stars, racecar drivers, authors, and influential people from all over the world. So ya, 2013 wasn’t too shabby. And since it deserves a proper farewell, we’ve rounded up the Best of Notable 2013 for you to have a look back at the year that was. Don’t linger in the past too long, though, ‘cause we can’t wait to start turning 2014 into our most memorable year yet! And we hope you’ll be right there with us making it happen.

Restaurants / Bars / Lounges
A young professional’s gotta eat. And you know what just so happens to pair real nice with a fine meal? Why, nothing less than a refreshing bevy or two. So we spent this year hitting the city with a hungry desire (see what we did there) to seek out the best restaurants and bars in Toronto where you can get your fill and spill your cup. We know, it sounds like torture. But we’re committed to putting our taste buds to the taste just for you, dear reader, and as a tribute to all the flavours that passed over our tongues this year, here are a few of our absolute favourites from 2013. If you haven’t checked out these hot spots yet, do your mouth a favour and take it out on the town in 2014.

Buonanotte
Not only a superb dinning experience, this MTL mainstay’s Toronto edition also offers itself up as the ultimate entertainment destination.

Hogtown Smoke
The popular Toronto food truck gets a permanent home in The Beaches, and we couldn’t be happier to swing by and try out some of the best smoked meat in the city.

Trinty Taverna
Modern Greek in a chic space that’s big enough to host any event. Oh, and it looks out at the lake. Squint hard enough and we swear you’ll feel like you could be on the Mediterranean.

Rock n’ Saloon
The country comes to the city and brings a mechanical bull with it. Seriously. They went full rural on the downtown core.

Winter Bars
The timing couldn’t be better to reintroduce you to our list of favourite warm winter bars in the city. Hit one of these hot spots up the next time you’re looking to stick it to the cold weather with a fine brew.

The Farmhouse Tavern, Two Ways
This is how the West was really won – one brunch at a time. Simply put, some of the best fresh food in all of Toronto.

Harvest Kitchen
As their website says, this is “where vegetarians bring their meat-eating friends… and vice versa.” What they forget to include in that description is just how wonderfully delicious it all is.

Montauk
They have Negroni on tap. Why are you not there right now drinking Negroni on tap? Why!?
