Notable ‘Za in Montreal

Nothing in the world beats a steaming hot slice of pizza. Sometimes the only challenge is knowing how to navigate the hundreds of pizzerias in the city to find the perfect pie. Next time you’re in the mood for savory slice, check out any of the spots below. They are amongst our favourite in Montreal and will satisfy your craving whether you are looking for a thin crispy crust or a thick doughy option…

Bottega Pizzeria65 St. Zotique East
For an authentic Neapolitan pizza pie, check out Little Italy’s most famous pizzeria. It is here you will find a wide selection of Sicilian pizza options done perfectly in the wood oven. Chef and owner Fabrizio Covone spent two years in Naples learning how to make the perfect pizza. The Neapolitan crust is doughy and crispy – so even if you ask for it well done, they will likely disregard your request. Their classic La Margherita is our favourite, and be sure to try their meatballs to start.

Restaurant Jane1744 Notre Dame West
This new Griffentown hotspot is the owner’s homage to his mother, Jane. It is here you will find simple rustic Italian fare served up amongst cool and fresh cocktails and an equally cool and fresh young crowd. Their pizzas are large, thick crusted, and crispy, and take a different spin with each you try. You can go simple with their Rosa (a Margherita style), or try their famous Schwartz’s smoked meat pizza (topped with smoked meat, mustard, pickles, etc), or the mac ‘n cheese pizza, or the lasagna pizza. The Jane salad is the perfect accompaniment. You can top any pizza with meatballs for a small extra fee…

Pizzeria Geppetto2504 Notre Dame West
St. Henri continues to impress us with their collection of delicious cozy restaurants. Gepetto’s, located right in the heart of the main St. Henri strip, is a cute and tiny pizzeria that specializes in thin crust ‘zas. Their pizzas are cooked in a classic Italian wood-burning oven – which ends up making a huge difference in the final result. If it’s a crispy thin crust pizza you are craving, this is your spot.
