Notable Winter Music Festival Style

Ok, so maybe it isn’t exactly Coachella weather, but Canadians are set to celebrate the coolest thing to hit Canada since snow – winter music festivals like Igloofest and Brrrr! Every winter, Igloofest brings together thousands of electronic music fans to dance under the stars at the Old Port of Montreal. With its ice-and-steel decor, striking architectural staging, programs that pull in the best local and international DJs, the Igloo Village and its famous “one piece” contest, Igloofest is one of the hottest events in the city and among the most prominent in Canada.

Warm Companions
Forget practicality – you won’t be wading through six feet of mud at this fest, so flash your fashion credentials with cool print accessories, a hat, gloves, scarves, bomber jackets, furry footwear and fringed totes.

It’s a bother to have to worry about your bag when you’re dancing, so opt for a crossbody. Shorten the straps by tying them up higher… if you want to avoid accidentally whipping it at anyone.

Layer Pieces

As we all know and have experienced, a jacket alone won’t do in this weather so the perfect layer piece is a must-have. In this case, we have fallen in love with these two print sweaters, a perfect statement piece to peek out of your coat and get the right kind of attention.

 Happy Camper

There are a variety of rain boots these days that come in a heat-manageable ankle length. If it’s a sturdy, quality boot, it’ll survive a decade’s worth of shows, so consider them an investment.

 The Front-Row Fanatic

If you’re moshing in the front row or just trying to hold your ground, it’s important to wear a shoe that protects your toes and gives you lots of balance. These boots have a small, stable platform that won’t have you tripping, but it’ll give you a slight vertical boost – and you know that every little inch counts.

This year, for the 8th edition, Igloofest returns for four weekends and a total of 12 simultaneously hot and frosty nights. On January 16-17-18, 23-24-25, and 30-31, February 1, 6-7-8, 2014, it’ll be time to dress warm and kitsch to face the Quebec winter challenge and have good fun. See you there!

Toronto’s Brrrrr! music festival takes place Saturday, Feb. 1 at Echo Beach.
