Notable Vancouver Summer Concert Alert

Returning for its 6th year, the Monster Energy Center of Gravity is set to all but take over Kelowna’s City Park from August 2nd to 4th.  This is probably one of Canada’s biggest beach bashes and more than worth the relatively quick cruise to K-town (though we’ll likely hop on a cheap flight to save our energy).

Produced by Wet Ape Productions, Center of Gravity packs everything you could possibly want in a summer festival into one easy package, bringing attendees everything from a stellar line-up of talent, to action sports, beach parties, bikinis and the most well-known DJs around the world (think Tiësto, Kaskade, Dada Life for starters).

Electro powerhouses aside, there will be plenty of other artists set to take the stage, with a varied line-up including the likes of Cazzette, Hopsin, Lights, Le Castle Vania and Robbie Rivera, to name a few.

Coupled with three days of music, COG also features seven different beach-minded sport competitions featuring more than 150 well-toned athletes sweating it out under the Okanagan sun (temperatures sit at around 30C). Catch teams and individuals competing in basketball, beach volleyball, freestyle mountain and BMX biking, skateboarding and wakeboarding.

If you’re up for it, enter into the bikini contest that is set to take place for some decent prize money – or perhaps you’re more inclined to recline and catch the action from your own private cabana? That’s right, COG has that too (oh so Miami of them!) Seriously though, it might make sense if you are looking to attend the festival with a handful of friends and want to enjoy a better vantage point that comes with personal bar service and a killer waterfront view.

Center of Gravity is definitely one of the summer’s best bets where festivals are concerned and we definitely think it’s worth noting.  If you’re lucky enough to be considered an insider, tickets for the festival went on sale today (May 8th). Early bird tickets (startiing at $79) go on sale to the general public starting Saturday, May 11 at 10am and are available at www.centerofgravity.ca.
