Notable Things to Do on a Sunday in August

You work hard all week long and you deserve to enjoy a leisurely Sunday, but inevitably the question arises: What to do? Montreal is filled with notable Sunday options, whether you’re looking to hang out, be active, or party. You just have to know about them. Luckily, because we’re such nice folk, we have some of the best options for you to choose from.

Tam Tams – Mount-Royal Park; enter at Parc and Pins
Every Sunday in the summertime, rain or shine (but better if shine), Montrealers of all backgrounds head to the Tam Tams in the Mount Royal Park. Coined as one of the most original musical festivals in Montreal, this is free and attracts an eclectic group of drummers, dancers, and vendors who all flock to the Sir George-Etienne Cartier monument for their day of music and dance. Surrounding this musical spectacle is the audience, Montrealers who come to watch by the thousands, to lay out in the sun, play Frisbee, and enjoy the live entertainment.

Bixi Bike Ride along the Verdun Bike Paths
If you’re looking to stay active, there are multiple bike trails right in the heart of the city. Grab a Bixi bike from your closest Bixi station, cross the Charlevoix Bridge into Point St. Charles and head to the closest Verdun bike bath entrance. You have 25km of bike path to choose from, 15km of which are along the shoreline. It’s a beautiful Sunday activity and is right outside your back door!

Cocktails on the Nelligan Rooftop – Verses Sky Bar at 100 Saint-Paul
If your Sunday thing is to grab drinks with friends and take in the sunshine amongst beautiful people doing the same, head up to the Nelligan Hotel Roof, aka Verses Sky Bar, and choose a beverage from their famous drink menu (may we suggest the raspberry mojito with fresh raspberries and mint). Expect the tunes to be blasting and the people to be loud and fun. It won’t be much of a relaxing Sunday, but at least it will be fun before the office calls Monday at 9am.

Strom Spa – 1001 Blvd de la Foret
Storm Spa is the only outdoor spa just minutes from downtown Montreal. Located on Nun’s Island, Strom Spa is an outdoor facility that offers outdoor whirlpools, thermal and Nordic baths, Finnish saunas, eucalyptus steam baths, thermal and Nordic waterfalls, and indoor and outdoor relaxation spaces with fireplaces. This is the perfect Sunday activity if you are looking to get pampered.
