Notable Review: La Pentola della Quercia

Upon arrival, we saddled up to the bar for a welcome cocktail (a delicious take on a classic Old Fashioned) and awaited the arrival of remaining guests. It gave us the perfect opportunity to take in the elegantly designed dining room, tastefully decorated with a modern and comfortable feel throughout.

Before long, we found ourselves comfortably seated at one of the dining room’s communal tables alongside fellow media friends – all ready to feast our way through a 10-course tasting menu. Created by owners Adam Pegg and Lucais Syme, there was no end to the variety of dishes that came out in well-timed fashion.

We happily sipped expertly chosen wines meant to work with each dish, noshing on everything from tortellini to stuffed trotters, La Pentola’s house-made ‘Dirty Sausage’ and duck confit. Caraway-scented cauliflower truly caught our senses – as did the grilled venison served with porcini, polenta and juniper butter. It wasn’t all heavy, though; a refreshing  fennel and blood orange salad with toasted pine nuts did the trick! It’s more than clear that a passion for food runs deep for this dynamic duo.

To wrap up the meal, dessert arrived… tamarind ice cream with apple, fennel, caramel and, get this, speck! So clever, tasty and daringly different.
