Notable Now Vancouver: September 20, 2013

IDS West (September 19 to 22, Vancouver Convention Centre)
Since its launch in 2004, Interior Design Show West has all but cemented itself as the place to head to when in search of design inspirations and the latest trends.  Attendees can score insider tips from trade professionals, check out new products, nab hand-made jewelry, fashion and art at The District and more – all part of this leading trade and consumer show in Vancouver.  New this year: The H&L Laneway Feature Home will be auctioned off live to one lucky bidder to benefit the Alzheimer Society of BC. Pecha Kucha (September 20, 918 Granville Street)

Full Circle for OVCare (September 24th, 288 Abbott Street)
In support of ovarian cancer research and to celebrate the launch of Malene Grotrian Design’s Fall/Winter 2013 Collection, “Collage,” this event is one worthwhile cause to add to your calendar.  Models will strut their way down the runway at a transformed Montauk Gallery for an evening of fun and fundraising.  Enjoy live music, a silent auction featuring original art accompanied by canapés and cocktails. Brand Ambassador Donna Pepin (an ovarian cancer survivor) will be on hand to help spread the word. Tickets can be purchased for $25 (special VIP tickets are only $50). Learn more here

Vancouver’s iconic Rio Theatre is set to host a cocktail and film event next week showcasing the Canadian premiere of Douglas Tirola’s film that tells the story of the rebirth of the bartender and classic art of the cocktail. A special VIP screening precludes the night’s event and will feature top cocktail concoctions courtesy of the city’s best bartenders.
