The Whistler Blackcomb Turkey Sale (October 11 to 13th, Whistler)
This weekend, make your way to Whistler and get geared up at the Legendary Turkey Sale. Shop for top ski and snowboard brands and equipment and score huge savings. It takes place all weekend long at the Base of Blackcomb Mountain (Blackcomb Daylodge) and is guaranteed to get you itching to carve a few turns this upcoming season. Theatre for Living (October 10 to 11th, 800 E. Broadway)
This weekend, the Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House will host the 32nd annual Theatre for Living, an innovative project about the corporate messages that live within our collective psyche. Theatre for a Living asks participants to pause and digest the messages that corporations feed us throughout the day, examining how those messages play into our everyday lives. The project aims to use theatre to boost awareness of these messages, alter our relationships to them, and engage in more sustainable lives with each other. Click here for more info. 

Raw Talent 2013 12×12 Exhibit (677 Davie Street)
Head down to the Scotiabank Dance Centre this weekend to this free event (from 6om until midnight). The 12×12 event is now celebrating its 5th year, featuring 12 themes with 60 photographers generating about 720 photographs. Raw Talent showcases all photos taken by the 60 participants of the 12×12 Vancouver Photo Marathon (which took place in August). Photo enthusiasts, art lovers, and Vancouverites of all ages are welcome to experience this unique one-night-only event in a stunning venue. For more info, click here

Granville Island Turkey Trot (October 14th, Granville Island)
Run off the Thanksgiving excess and tackle The Turkey Trot 10k run/walk/stroll (not your average run). This fun run is more of an experience with a sweet and savoury ending.  Registered racers will enjoy the camaraderie of this seasonal 10k run in one of the city’s most picturesque places – and meet a finish line loaded with more than just bananas and Gatorade. Volunteers have organized a seriously deluxe spread of post-race gourmet goods that will have runners sprinting to the finish. Ongoing: Capture (now until November 15th, various locations)
If you haven’t already checked out Capture, be sure to do so while the photographic celebration is in town. This insightful exhibit explores the world both behind and in front of the lens. Capture celebrates and promotes photography through a convergence of shows by public institutions, commercial galleries, innovative installations and different forums, films and events around Vancouver. This year’s program showcases the best international and local photographic talents to allow visitors and residents an opportunity to share experiences through the medium of photography.
