Opening soon: Romer’s Burger Bar: Yaletown (1039 Mainland Street)
Burger aficionados can soon rejoice with news that Romer’s Burger Bar is imminently close to opening the doors of its newest location in Yaletown. In fact, hungry fans of this upscale burger franchise might just want to stroll by this weekend – rumour has it they may be ready to serve up their tasty menu of more than a dozen different varieties (including veggie, beef, chicken, turkey, chorizo and fish). Aussie Rules! Australia Day with House Wine (Stanley Park Pavilion)
Celebrate Australia Day this Friday, January 25th in true boisterous style alongside the House Wine girls. They’re throwing a party to celebrate Australia’s birthday and are featuring 120 different wines from throughout Australia. Tempt your palate with a sampling of wines (featuring hidden gems, big-time producers, and everything in between. Tickets are $55 and can be purchased here. Event starts at 7PM and goes until 9:30PM.

Recently opened: Nosh Rotisserie (2585 West Broadway)
Mother-son duo (formerly from Toronto) Sandra and Tony Scott have created a sumptuously good all-rotisserie menu at this quaint Kitsilano-based spot. With doors opening about a week ago and a menu loaded with tempting bites, such as Braised Pork Belly with Tomato Jam, a Pulled Pork Short Rib Sandwich and BBQ Pork Banh Mi with pickled veggies, it’s already a hit. Curb App Launch Party (January 26th starting at 9PM, 316 West 5th Avenue)
This Saturday, head over to The Beaumont Studio for a night of celebration in honour of street artists and Curb – the latest app created specifically for the vast realm of creative expression under development in Vancouver. This fundraising party will feature live performances by The Ponderosas, Weird’eaux, Steve the Creative and plenty of DJs. Rant away: Vancouver, I love you but… (January 25th at 6PM)
The Museum of Vancouver (1100 Chestnut Street) is set to welcome a series of thought-provoking ‘rants’ courtesy of guest speakers such as former mayor Sam Sullivan, author Kevin Chong, performance artist Adrian Howells and more. It’ll be a hilarious evening fuelled by our love-hate relationship with Vancouver, a beautiful city that nevertheless drives many crazy (be it the weather, cost of living, crazy real estate). The 25th Annual St. Valentine’s Day Massacre (Vancouver Theatresports League, 1502 Duranleau Street)
This Friday, head down to Granville Island’s Vancouver Theatresports League for a night of fun as you take in their signature festival masterpiece that pits improv groups from around the world against each other. It’s a battle that is inspired by and for the love of the audience in attendance with teams from Las Vegas, Montreal, Atlanta, Edmonton and Bellingham battling it out for the last laugh.
