Ongoing: Music Fest Vancouver 2012
Take in the final weekend of the 12th Annual MusicFest celebration that has seen more than 40 events, concerts and performances take place around Vancouver. Enjoy a vibrant array of sounds courtesy of some of the most talented artists around the world.   Classical, jazz and world music performances take place at various venues. 

Portobello West Fashion + Art Market (August 18 – 19)
As part of the City of Vancouver’s VIVA program, the 800 block of Granville Street will be transformed once again, and this weekend plays host to this popular artisan market.  Stop by to peruse plenty of locally produced products at the first ever outdoor Portobelo pop-up starting at 11am each day between Robson and Smithe on Granville Street.

Coming up: Grow Conference 2012 (August 23 – 24th)
On our radar, the largest entrepreneurial meet-up of the year is happening next week in Vancouver. On Thursday, August 23rd, be amongst the 800 attendees to meet some of the world’s top investors and Silicon Valley elite alike. Listen in as top BC entrepreneurs share their battle stories (speakers include a mix of authors and founders such as Geekwire, TechCrunch, 99Designs, Sprouter, KISSmetrics, The Lean Entrepreneur) as part of this conference, now in its 3rd year. Takes place at the Vancouver Convention Centre (1055 Canada Place) and other locations.

Yaletown Movie Night in the Park at David Lam Park (August 19th)
This Sunday, enjoy a free film under the stars courtesy of the Yaletown Business Association and James Schouw & Associates. Catch all-time classic ‘Dirty Dancing’ on a huge 40-foot screen. Set to start at around 8pm, pack a picnic, blanket and enjoy one of the last outdoor flicks of the summer.

Coming up: Vancouver Fringe Festival opening party (September 4th)
Mark your calendars for what is shaping up to be a blast. Tickets are available for the September 4th launch of the Festival that will take place at Performance Works in Gastown starting at 7pm. Catered by The Keg, Edible Canada and Peter Lehmann Wines, organizers are expecting more than 60,000 attendees, so purchase in advance. 1218 Cartwright Street.

Get your mix on: Made With Love (August 2oth) at The Roundhouse
Monday, head down to Yaletown’s Roundhouse for this annual mixology-inspired competition and discover the finest bartenders our city has to offer. Watch as 12 of the best take to creating their own personalized cocktail. What’s more, you’ll get to enjoy tasting and voting in Vancouver’s best.
