Summer Special Series: Stanley Park Edition (August 17, Stanley Park)
The Summer Special Series is ready to go with a special Stanley Park edition set to take place this weekend and it’s definitely not one to miss. Featuring plenty of excuses to shake your booty, get down and chill out under the summer sun, this event will be their largest party yet. DJs from throughout Vancouver will be on deck, as will a handful of others from out of town. The party takes place at the Brockton Oval, tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Sea to Sky Gondola (36800 Hwy 99)
Head up to Squamish this weekend and tackle the trek to the top of the Sea to Sky Gondola if you haven’t already. This brand new attraction is a must-do this summer, offering up breathtaking views of the valley, coastal mountains and Pacific below. Food Cart Fest (every Sunday, 215 W 1st)
Head over to False Creek’s Olympic Village this Sunday afternoon for a serious feast. On from 12pm-5pm every Sunday all summer, this festival features 20 of Vancouver’s top food carts and is an afternoon of food, fun, and sun with by live music and DJs, local craft food vendors, live entertainment activities and more. Don’t Miss: Rewilding at the MOV (until September 1st)
The first major exhibition on urban historical ecology in Canada, Rewilding Vancouver features 12 tableaux that mix taxidermy, material culture, projection and sound to reveal the natural “understory” of familiar Vancouver locations. ArtQuake is hosting the 4th annual OneLove Festival next week to support local up-and-coming artists as they showcase films, dance, ceramics, and graphic art to de-stigmatize mental health. Join ArtQuake in supporting the arts in Vancouver and promote creativity and social change. Admission is by donation ($5) with proceeds supporting youth-driven ArtQuake programs and events.
