Notable Now Toronto: September 27, 2013

Just Opened: Hudson Kitchen
It has already hosted celebs like Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston (on separate nights, naturally) during TIFF. Its chef hails from hotspots like URSA and Woodlot. And it’s a proper sized restaurant (not a whole in the wall, this one). Hudson Kitchen is officially open in soft launch, with an eclectic menu and amazing cocktails. Find it at 800 Dundas Street West.

Opening Soon: Drake 150
At 150 York Street, in a 6,000-sq. ft. space that once housed a bank, you’ll now find Drake 150, the Drake Hotel’s first stand-alone restaurant that opens to the public mid-next week. The pioneers of food/art/music-mixed dining in the city, Drake 150 takes the best of the original Drake Hotel’s sensibilities and plants ’em square in the middle of the Financial District.

Just Opened: Kitten and the Bear
It’s a spot grandma would love. Kitten and the Bear recently opened in Parkdale, at 1574 Queen Street West. One part tea room, one part old fashioned charm, this new psuedo-restaurant/retail spot serves up, naturally, beautiful teas and coffees as well as homemade preserves and scones. It’s an ode to times gone by, but it’s in the here and now.

Just Opened: Ole Ole Restaurant and Tequila Wine Bar
Fans of Kultura were devastated when its doors shut for a couple weeks not too long ago. But they’ve breathed a collective sigh of relief when its new incarnation, Ole Ole Restaurant and Tequila Wine Bar (169 King Street East), opened up its doors. On the menu? Mexico meets Spain in the form of tacos and tapas, and Spanish wines and tequila cocktails dominate the drinks lists.
