Just Opened: Richmond Station
What foodies and avid diners alike have been waiting for since Carl Heinrich was crowned victor on the second season of Top Chef Canada has finally arrived. Richmond Station, Heinrich’s latest project with business partner Ryan Donovan, has a ticking schedule now, and is serving up a mix of technically sophisticated cuisine with farm fresh ingredients. Find it at 1 Richmond Street West.

Just Opened: Michael’s on Simcoe
The city’s got a bit more old school glam with the recent opening of Michael’s on Simcoe, found at 100 Simcoe Street. Replete with 1920s style banquettes, crystal galore, and white linen tablecloths, Michael’s a meat lovers dream. (It has its own meat aging unit in-house.) The owner, Michael Dabic, knows steak – he was the GM at Habour 60 – and the menu’s a mix of haute steakhouse and contemporary Italian.

Soupstock
On Oct 21, Soupstock will see 120 of Canada’s finest chefs banning together to raise funds for the campaign to stop the Highland Companies’ proposed Mega-Quarry in Melancthon Township. Using an ever-so apropos dish for the season, soup, the one-day Soupstock at Woodbine Park will see over 100 variations being served up with a portion of all proceeds going to the campaign, and performances from artists like Jim Cuddy and Jesse Cook.

TEDxToronto
TED talks are all about bringing top minds from three worlds – Technology, Entertainment, and Design – together to share ideas, inspire movements, and insight change. TEDxToronto is an independently-organized one-day conference taking place at the Sony Centre for Performing Arts on Oct. 26 that sees speakers like Steven Page and Susur Lee taking the stage to share their wisdom. Official viewing parties are taking place around the city, and you can stream the conference online at tedxtoronto.com.

Screemers
On weekends throughout the month, and the 31st, naturally, Screemers is Canada’s top indoor haunted scream park. Featuring attractions like The Asylum, The Diabolical House of Cards, and the Slasher Wax Museum, a Vampire Cocktail Lounge, the Midway of Mayhem, and, of course, one of the most terrifying haunted houses in the city, Screemers is the perfect way to get into a hallowed mood. Find it at Exhibition Place.

Designing 007 Opening Night
A unique exhibition exploring the design and style of the world’s most iconic movie brand, Designing 007 is a retrospective of all things Bond at TIFF Bell Lightbox. The exhibition is on Oct 26 through Jan 20, but the opening night gala is sure to be one of the city’s most luxe affairs, with tuxedo clad gents and femmes fatale rubbing shoulders amidst live music, a casino, exotic hors d’oeuvres, and, of course, martinis.
