Notable Now Toronto: November 8, 2013

Just Opened: Estrella Taqueria
Yes, you thought right upon reading the name of this new restaurant… We have another taco joint in the city?! Indeed we do, however Estrella’s got a geographical game afoot. Bringing the taco trend uptown, this new taco-centric Mexican restaurant is found in North York at 4899 Yonge Street. Six delectable tacos are on the menu alongside an impressive array of other regional dishes.

Just Opened: REDS Midtown Tavern
For those who love the Financial District hotspot REDS Wine Tavern, you’ve now another location to tempt your tastebuds. REDS Midtown Tavern opened up recently, surprisingly not technically in Midtown. No, the new REDS is found at 382 Yonge Street at the corner of Gerrard. Expect the same great dining experience you’re used with a few “midtown” twists.

Just Opened: Nespresso Boutique Bar
This one’s just plain cool. In our brand-centric world, it can be difficult to stand out from the pack. Nespresso’s done a brilliant job with the new 14,000 sq. ft. Nespresso Boutique Bar found at 159 Cumberland Street in Yorkville. Plush seating, an airy space, and, naturally, Nespresso beverages are all part and parcel, with a cafe serving up some French delights.

The Gentlemen’s Expo
From Nov. 22-24 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, get ready for a manly melee with the inaugural Gentlemen’s Expo. This sort-of trade show focuses on all things dudes: fashion, food, drinks, grooming, and the list goes on. Celebrity chefs, a world record attempt for most moustached men in a single spot, and workshops aplenty round out this amazing new event.

LG Innovator’s Ball
The Ontario Science Centre’s annual soiree, the LG Innovator’s Ball, is back on Nov. 14 at, naturally, the OSC (770 Don Mills Road). This society gala always brings out the creme de la creme of Toronto’s philanthropic scene for an evening of entertainment and fundraising. Hosted by Steve Paiken this year, the event also features the acrobatics of Les Oiseaux du Paradis.

The Arnold Party
On Nov. 15 at The Carlu (444 Yonge Street), get ready to revel in the sights and sounds of New Orleans circa the boisterous jazz era at the annual Arnold Party. This annual Business for the Arts event celebrates the latest recipient of the Arnold Edinborough Award, as well as acting as the after party for the BFTA’s annual awards gala that celebrates arts-minded young professionals.
