Just Opened: Retsina
The city’s starting to get more and more gourmet Greek… and it’s away from the Danforth. We’re not complaining. Retsina recently opened its doors at 209 Gerrard Street East, and is serving up a mix of classic Greek with gourmet twists and contemporary Mediterranean with classic techniques. (That’s a mouthful.) The room is lovely, and the food worthy of the Gods.
Just Opened: Rashers
Bacon lovers need take note: Rashers Bacon Sandwich Shop recently opened up in Leslieville, serving, well, bacon sandwiches. They’re totally gourmet, though! Located at 948 Queen Street East, Rashers seats but a few, yet makes amazing bacon sammies like the classic Hogtown with peameal bacon or the Wild Boar bacon on baguette.
Just Opened: The Titled Kilt
This one’s more for the fellas to say the least. The Tilted Kilt just opened up at 38 The Esplanade, bringing its trademark Scottish… er… “charm” along for the ride. (Read: Its very attractive female servers leave very little to be left to imagination.) The Tilted Kilt serves Scottish/Irish/British pub faves and over 50 different beers alongside its eye candy.
Just Opened: JOEY Yorkdale
North West Torontonians rejoice! You now have a JOEY Restaurant to call your own, and it’s neatly tucked in Yorkdale Mall. As part of Yorkdale’s swaggeriffic expansion, JOEY Yorkdale features a modern industrial design concept, a cocktail lounge, upstairs dining area, and the same globally inspired cuisine you’ve come to love from this chain.
Just Opened: Archive
Found at 909 Dundas Street West, Archive Wine Bar is a civilized little spot that has one heck of a decent wine list – with many cultivated here in Ontario – and most wines available by the glass. (Perfect for when a white drinker is out with a friend who loves a glass of red.) The small tapas menu is very wine-pairing appropriate, with cheeses and antipasto alike.
Just Opened: The Whippoorwill Restaurant and Tavern
The Bloordale Pantry was recently taken over and transformed into the Whippoorwill (say that ten times fast) Restaurant and Tavern. Located at 1285 Bloor Street West in the Bloordale neighbourhood, the Whippoorwill is currently serving up brunch and lunch, but will soon foray into dinner and late-night. For now, find a farm-to-table menu of early day favourites.
