Notable Now Toronto: June 28, 2013

Pride Weekend
If you haven’t noticed, the city’s been painted with the colours of the rainbow for Pride Weekend. On through June 30, Pride Weekend celebrates all things LGBT. Parties, events, talks, street fairs and more will be going down around the Church-Wellesley Village area, and various venues and neighbourhoods throughout the city are gearing up for the big Pride Parade down Yonge Street on Sunday. Check out Notable.ca for the 5 Must Catch Events for Pride 2013.

Canada Day Fireworks
July 1 is Monday, which means it’s time to gear up for Canada Day festivities! One of the top celebrations is via Canada Day fireworks, and there are a few great spots to catch ’em: Ashbridges Bay Park (1675 Lake Shore Blvd E), Canada’s Wonderland (9580 Jane St in Vaughan), and Mel Lastman Square (North York). For more details, check out Notable.ca.

Just Opened: Clubhouse Sandwich Shop
At 455 Spadina Ave you’ll now find a ditty of a li’l shop called Clubhouse. What are they serving up? Why, epic sandwiches, of course! Using fresh ingredients and tasty combinations – like the vegetarian friendly basil-marinated fried tomato or the seafood lovers’ oyster po’boy – Clubhouse Sandwich Shop is bringing some much needed oomph to the grab-and-go market near Colleg and Spadina.

Just Opened: Rock Lobster on Queen
Fans of the original Rock Lobster Food Co. pop-up and the first Rock Lobster restaurant on Ossington take note: the second location of Matt Pettit’s budding empire has opened up shop in the space that previously housed Shanghai Cowgirl (538 Queen St W). Featuring a new menu, a beautiful back patio, and a seafood retail concept, the new Rock Lobster will totally get you hooked.

Fringe Festival
Celebrating 25 years, the Toronto Fringe Festival stages will light up from July 3 to 14. Taking place at multiple venues across the city, the Toronto Fringe Festival is an ode to performance theatre, plays, musicals, and the like. With over 140 different shows to watch out for, indulge in some serious culture during this multi-day arts fest.

Toronto Urban Roots Festival
From July 4 to 7 at Garrison Common at Fort York (100 Garrison Rd), get ready for bands and musicians like She & Him, Neko Case, Belle and Sebastian, The Arkells, Lowest of the Low and many more. Why? The Toronto Urban Roots Festival is back to bring a 4-day showcase of amazing live music to a scenic historic site right in DT Toronto. Now that’s notable, right?
