Notable Now Toronto: June 15, 2012

Just Opened: FARMHOUSE Tavern
Opening just last week at 1627 Dupont Street, Farmhouse Tavern is quaint new resto rooted in the charming influences of the rural Ontario farmhouse. They were featured on an episode of ‘Junk Raiders’ for the space’s build, and are cooking a blackboard menu of farm-driven food. Cool notes: Sunday nights have $1 oysters at 9pm, and 1/2 price food at 10pm.

Opening Tonight: Barhop Bar
A new craft beer bar is opening up tonight on King West, promising three staples: Beer, Food, Life. Since we often equate the first two as being a large parcel of the third, we think that’s pretty notable. With 24 beers on tap, another 50 or so by the bottle or can, and some great haute grub like mussels, osso buco, and beeramisu, Barhop is set to heat up 391 King Street West.

Just Opened: Dine on 3
In a similar move as last year’s Eaton Centre unveiling of the gourmand food court Urban Eats, Yorkdale Mall just launched Dine on 3, their $35-million renovated eatery space. This food oasis features some of the usual suspects, but goes far beyond the extra mile with stand alone, licensed restaurants like Famoso Neapolitan Pizza. Yorkdale finally has a food court worthy of its status.

Just Opened: La Carnita
In a move that excited all foodies the city-wide, La Carnita announced a permanent location – it was a pop-up model before – a couple months ago, and just this past Tuesday they officially opened at 501 College Street. Serving up gourmet tacos – like the pollo frito with peanut mole sauce, and the crispy avocado with frijoles – La Carnita is set to give Grand Electric a huge run for their money.

Sinai Soiree
Join Mount Sinai on Thursday, June 21 at Maro in Liberty Village (135 Liberty Street) for a night of opulence and intrigue, featuring exquisite vignettes from the boudoirs of Cosabella and ResultWear. Indulge in hors d’oeuvres and cocktails in support of women’s health and cancer research at Mount Sinai Hospital.

National Ballet Diamond Gala
The National Ballet’s annual gala is this year themed after diamonds, for their elegance, rarity, and multi-faceted beauty…much like ballet dancers. On June 20th at the Four Seasons Centre for Performing Arts (145 Queen Street West), join hundreds of other cultural philanthropists for a gala dinner and cocktails, with amazing displays of dynamic beauty from Canada’s most talented dancers.
