Notable Now Toronto: July 26, 2013

Notable Now this week in Toronto: The opening of The Beverley Hotel, Momofuku Milk Bar on University, and Cafe+Bar+Pasta; RENDER: Vol. 1, VELD Music Festival and Bridle Bash V featuring The Tragically Hip

Just Opened: The Beverley Hotel
On an unassuming stretch of Queen West you’ll now find The Beverley Hotel, a gem amidst a sea of corporate clothing shops. Featuring just over a dozen boutique rooms, a gorgeous rooftop patio, and amazing eats from the kitchen that’s helmed by Chef Eric Wood, The Beverley Hotel is a surefire new entry on our stay/eat/sleep scene.

VELD Music Festival
Steve Aoki, Deadmau5, Kaskade, Above & Beyond, Steve Angello, Krewella… what do these names (and many, many more) have in common? They’ll all be movin’ and groovin’ on the stages of this year’s VELD Music Festival, which takes over Downsview Park for a two-day ultra music fest on August 3 and 4.

RENDER: Vol. 1
On July 29 at Nyood Restaurant and Bar (1096 Queen Street West), prepare for sensory overload at RENDER: Vol. 1. This creative collaboration sees Chef Rob Bragagnolo from Marben cookin’ up a fixed-course pop-up meal alongside amazing works from four up-and-coming visual artists and live performances and melding of sounds from six barons of beats.

Just Opened: Momofuku Milk Bar
Ever get a craving for a crack pie? How about a compost cookie, or a cornflake marshmallow? If you’ve been to any of the New York-based Momofuku Milk Bars, the answer likely is “often.” The famed milk bar finally has an international post, and it’s right here in Toronto at the Shangri-La Hotel (188 University Avenue).

Just Opened: Cafe+Bar+Pasta
It’s a cafe. It’s a bar. It’s a pasta haven! No, not the latest culinary venture from Superman, Cafe+Bar+Pasta is actually the hot new Dundas West digs making a splash amidst hipsters the city wide. With a delightful ambiance and some a-mah-zing eats thrown in the mix, Cafe+Bar+Pasta (at 1588 Dundas Street West) is a food revolution you gotta check out.

Bridle Bash V
On August 3 get your party on at the fifth annual Bridle Bash, this year featuring famed Canadian band the Tragically Hip. In support of the Bridle Bash Foundation, the Bridle Bash (taking place at a private venue that will be released when you buy a ticket) is one of the city’s lesser-known but most exclusive fundraising events. Shouldn’t you be one of the notables involved?
