No, we’re not talking about bringing back the VCR. FFWD Advertising and Marketing Week is coming to town Jan. 27-31. This is the place to be if you’re in any way a part of the Canadian communications industry. Can’t miss speakers, parties, awards, and galas are going to be held throughout the city. Just make sure you check out our ‘What You Need To Know’ article before you go – we wouldn’t want you to be overwhelmed or anything.

Notable’s FFWD Opening Night Party
Date: Jan. 27
Location: Spoke Club

No, you’re not seeing double. It’s just that we like to help FFWD get started with one hell of a bang. So we’ll be kicking off this iconic Canadian week over fantastic cocktails and conversations at the Spoke Club on January 27. There’ll be complimentary wine from Apothic and Mirassou, cocktails from Absolut, and beer from Steam Whistle all while DJ Harlan Miltchin of Superfly Entertainment spins beats and you wait to find out if you’ve won a fantastic door prize. Unfortunately tickets to this one are sold out but stay tuned to hear what happens when 200 of the hottest young professionals (YPs) in the city get together for a night out.

Winterlicious
Date: Jan. 31 – Feb. 13
Location: Various Locations

The hottest foodie event in the city during the winter, this year’s edition has more than 200 restaurants participating and tickets go on sale today! Check out Toronto.ca for a list of every restaurant that’s taking part and get your prix-fixe pick fixed now (try saying that five times fast). If you’re more hands on, hit up the selection of unique and interactive food experiences, including learning how to craft delicate gnocchi or sampling an aphrodisiac-inspired menu. Here’s a hint: we’re pretty sure it wasn’t made with love.

Weddings
Date: Jan. 17, 18, 19
Location: The International Centre, 6900 Airport Road

Two weeks ago it was Canada’s Bridal Show, this weekend it’s Toronto’s Best Bridal Show. This is where to go to everything you need for your big day, and all under one roof. Gowns, caterers, photographers, florists, heck, maybe even a groom if you play your cards right. Whether you want to go big or go away (think sand between your toes), you’ll be able to sample, compare prices, and view the hottest trends from over 350 retailers and service providers. Also, this baby includes the city’s biggest bridal gown sale – we suggest you come with your game face on.

Travel
Date: Jan. 18
Location: Metro Toronto Convention Centre

The Toronto Travel Expo will be held this Saturday for all those who want some insider advice from leading travel experts and suppliers. More than 50 exhibitors will be on-site offering to send you around the world in planes, trains, ships, and anything else you can think of. There’ll also be several presentations with titles like ‘The only way to experience the Canadian Rockies & Whistler’, ‘All-inclusive Luxury River Cruising’, and ‘Visit Japan Now’. Start making an itinerary now.

RVs
Date: Jan. 17-19
Location: The International Centre, 6900 Airport Road

For those of you who prefer a more grounded approach to travel, the next three days give you the chance to check out over 500 RVs on-site at the Toronto RV Show & Extravaganza. This is Ontario’s largest display of homes that travel, and includes tent trailers, truck campers, van conversions, and full-blown motor homes. We’re getting motivated for spring just thinking about the open road possibilities. There’ll be seminars, food, exotic animals (yes, you’re right to think this is a weird addition), and the chance to win $15,000 cash. We’re also pretty sure there’s a door prize joke in here somewhere…
