Notable Now Toronto: February 7, 2014

motionball
Date: Feb. 7th
Location: Liberty Grand, 25 British Columbia Rd., Toronto

It’s back, baby. ThreeSixtyFive Gala, presented by AIR MILES Canada, is once again taking over Liberty Grand to host its 13th annual gala. Why is this one of Toronto’s hottest events? Well, it probably has something to do with the fact that we’re the national media partner, Carmen Electra will be co-hosting, there’ll be live performances by Skratch Bastid, Running Red Lights, DJ Efsharp, DJ Dopey & DJ Don Mescal, an Under Armour Fashion Show, a live art performance, and 100 Silent Auction prizes. Oh, and it’s all for charity. Probably that’s why.

PawsParty
Date: Feb. 12th
Location: The Hoxton

Saving dogs’ lives and getting a chance to hook up? No, this isn’t some fireman fantasy camp – it’s PawsParty 2014. There’ll be an old school love note wall (you’ll be assigned a number and a retro cubbyhole where secret – or not-so-secret – admirers can leave you sexy messages to help the mingling move along nicely. The Dawg Show, the auctioning off of some of the city’s steamiest bachelors for a date on Valentine’s Day at a hot Toronto restaurant, should also draw some attention. Already have a date? No problem, drop the hunk but keep the reso. And yes, there will be puppies at the party, too.

360 Screenings
Date: Feb. 7th, 8th
Location: Not Yet Revealed

Ever wanted to be in a movie? Not star in it, but actually live in that reality? 360 Screenings provides a cinematic experience that caters to that desire. Not only will you watch a film, you’ll interact with live theatre installations and become a part of the essence of the film itself. The location, a Toronto heritage building, is kept secret until 24 hours prior to the screening. The theme this time around is LOVE, a celebration of what it means to love and be loved in return. Think Last Action Hero but, you know, good.

Grilled Cheese
Date: Feb. 28th
Location: Roy Thomson Hall, 60 Simcoe St, Toronto

Everyone’s favourite I-can-make-this-myself sandwich finally gets its day in the sun. You might be able to put two pieces of bread together with some cheese but you’ve never done it like this. Toronto’s Top Cheese Masters, including the Leslieville Cheese Market, Cut The Cheese, and CHEESEWERKS, will be grilling up some of the greatest comfort food you’ve ever had. Add in gourmet soup pairings and Creemore Springs beer and we’re pretty sure we’re going to have to be removed by force.

Valentine’s Day with Justin Timberlake
Date: Feb. 14th
Location: Various Locations

Candy, flowers, dinner. Valentine’s Day is too often the same. The only thing notable about it often turns out to be the level of disappointment involved, so we thought we’d spice it up this year by offering The Sexiest Date in the City. How do we know it’s the sexiest? ‘Cause Justin Timberlake will be there, that’s how. Just head here to enter and pretty soon JT could be showing you a few things.

ONEXONE
Date: Feb. 13th
Location: Malaparte at TIFF Bell Lightbox, 350 King Street West

One of our favourite young professional (YP) charities, ONEXONE, will be hosting a night of mingling with like-minded YPs (and surely some singles for you lonely hearts out there) over cocktails all for a charitable cause. The Show Love event will include an O&B drink, hors d’oeuvres, and a Limited Edition ONEXONE Teddy Bear. So there’s officially no way you’ll end up going home alone.
