Notable Now Toronto: August 8, 2014

Tough Mudder
Date: August 16-17
Location: Mount St. Louis, Moonstone

Some people like to push themselves. Like, really push themselves. So much so that they can’t do it in Toronto because they need hills and mud pits and woodlands. They need 10-12 miles of all out hell to really put a smile on their face. That, or they just really want the t-shirt, headband, and hard-earned beer that are included.

Toronto Underground Market
Date: August 10, 11am-4pm
Location: 99 Sudbury

TUM is taking on brunch, which means you haven’t been this excited for a Sunday morning since, well, probably ever. For years, TUM has given food entrepreneurs and chefs the opportunity to express their talents in a new market. And your taste buds get to be the lucky recipients of all their delicious discoveries. Hangover cures are also promised, so you officially have no excuse.

Fusion Notable Icon Series
Date: August 12
Location: It’s a secret (shhh…)

We don’t use the world icon lightly. So when we put together the Fusion Notable Icon Series, we weren’t messing around. We wanted to create something intimate, unforgettable, and highly original. And we have. With nine of these cross-Canada events bringing some of Canada’s top icons together with an exclusive group of 30 young professionals, you’re going to want to sign up as soon as you’re done reading this: Torontoiconseries@notable.ca

John Legend
Date: August 8
Location: Molson Amphitheatre

With his tour named All of Me (after his huge single), you know that this is the current king of soul getting even more soul-filled than usual. Expect swooning, swaying, and a general blend of love and melancholy at the same time. Love songs and high notes go together like summer and concerts at the Amphitheatre. Luckily, John’s offering both.

CNE
Date: August 15-September 1
Location: Canadian National Exhibition Grounds

Only the largest fair in Canada. We shouldn’t have to even explain this one. If you’ve heard of Toronto and you’ve heard of summer, you know about the Ex. From food to fairways, competitions to concerts, this is 18 days of must-attend amusement. Seriously, whatever you’re looking for, they have it here.

Hot & Spicy Food Festival
Date: August 15-17
Location: Harbourfront Centre

So you think you can you take the heat, huh? Well, there’s a festival for that. This three-day celebration of the spicier side of life will include sauces, snacks, live music, markets, a fiery food challenge, an International Iron Chef competition, a hot spot scavenger hunt, and more. If you’re always asking for extra hot sauce at meals, this is probably your heaven.
