TIFF September
Lights. Camera. Action. Stars. Parties. Events. And, of course, films. That’s right, starting Sept 5 and running through the 15, the Toronto International Film Festival will play host to some of the most-anticipated film premieres of the year, with all the star power to boot. Most of the action happens around TIFF Bell Lightbox (350 King West), so get over there to star stalk!

Just Opened: XOLA
Seems as though two trends in the city aren’t slowing down: Mexican food and the Beaches’ culinary revival. Entering the scene recently is XOLA, a new joint for brunch, lunch and dinner at 2222A Queen Street East. Traditional and contemporary Mexican flavours and techniques can be seen in everything from the tacos to the wings at this less-than-20-seat spot.

amfAR’s Inspiration Gala
On Sept 8 at The Carlu (444 Yonge Street), join honorary chairs Hilary Swank and Kenneth Cole at the amfAR Inspiration Gala. Hosted by actor Alan Cumming, the event will see a performance by Gossip alongside fashions by Marc Jacobs, and the creme de la creme of the Toronto philanthropic scene as well as some other noteworthy celebs in town for TIFF.

Arianna Huffington Luncheon
On Sept 11 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (255 Front Street West), join the Huffington Post’s editor-in-chief and co-founder, Arianna Huffington, for this special event in the Women of Influence Luncheon Series. (Needless to say, this one’s only for the ladies.) Hear some words of wisdom from North America’s most powerful women at this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

September 13-21: Toronto Beer Week
Calling all beer lovers, brew masters, and pint pounders! Toronto Beer Week is back from from Sept 13-21, presenting a keg-full of events and venues participating in all the sudsy glory. Some 30 or so craft breweries are on the docket, alongside about 45 restaurants and bars who will play host to some 20 or so belly-bustin’, beer-fuelled events.

Get your Depends on because from Sept 19-28, you’re in for some side-splitting action as 42 big name comedians descend upon our city for JFL42. Sarah Silverman, Aziz Ansari, the cast of Family Guy doing a live reading and so many more favourable acts are on slate to bring barrels of laughs. Best part?
