Notable Now Toronto: April 11, 2014

The Pink Party
Date: April 11
Location: The Castlefield, 2492 Yonge

When The Sheepdogs, Naughty By Nature, and Paul Etherington are involved, you know it’s going to be a good party. You’ve heard a lot about Paul Etherington from us lately, mainly because he’s the young professional behind the beloved motionball charity. You’d think that would be enough, but no, Paul has gone ahead and put together one of the best fundraisers for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation in Canada. Expect a silent auction, DJs, a candy station, an open bar, celebrity co-host Kristin Kreuk, and to donate some cash to one of the best causes we know.

Cherry Blossoms
Date: April ?
Location: High Park

The official word from High Park is that there’ll be no blooming before Easter weekend. Trouble is, these sensitive buds hate the cold and rain even more than we do, which means that they may not show up at all or, if they do, they might only last a few days. Since this is one of the most beautiful scenes our city has to offer, we suggest sticking close to the updates so you don’t miss this must-see spring event. Pro tip: leave your car at home when you do go; cherry blossoms turn High Park into the Gardiner at rush hour.

Spa Week
Date: April 21-27
Location: Various

The largest spa and wellness event in the country? Okay, fine, twist our rubber arm. All week long more than 60 spas across the GTA will be offering luxurious experiences for just $50. Sometimes you’ll be saving $30, sometimes $50, and sometimes even more – point is, you’ll be getting the pampering you deserve without having to pay full price for it. Whether it’s a tweaked back or the desperate need to slip into a seaweed wrap, this is definitely the time to take care of it.

The Raptors
Date: April 19
Location: The Playoffs!

Forget the Leafs and the fact that they constantly let us down, T.O.’s other winter team will be playing right into the spring. The Raptors are currently in a tight battle for the 3rd spot in the Eastern Conference with the Brooklyn Nets and only have four games left before they enter the playoffs. And if you ask us, this is their best chance to make it to the second round since VC was still in town.

FAT
Date: April 22-26
Location: Daniels Spectrum 585 Dundas St. E.

For five days our city will be overrun by cutting-edge fashion design and art. We’re talking runway shows, photography exhibits, art installations, theatrical performances, and fashion films all taking place under one roof. Ever wonder where big things are right before they go mainstream? It’s here, at the 9th annual Fashion & Arts Week Toronto.

Brewer’s Backyard
Date: April 18
Location: Evergreen Brick Works

Remember a few weeks ago when we told you to get your Easter plans in order? Well, for those of you still struggling to decide what to do, we offer Great Friday, the latest in the Brewer’s Backyard series. Not only will you get to mingle with some of the best craft beer makers this province has to offer (and taste their beer of course), this is also the first time there’s an official after party. And in case you thought it couldn’t get any better, admission is free.
