Just Opened: The Oxley
At 121 Yorkville Avenue sits the just opened The Oxley, from the same owners as our favourite The Queen and Beaver. Featuring classic English cuisine – Scotch Eggs, anyone? – a beautiful patio in front of the building’s bright red brick exterior, and some excellent beers and liqueurs, The Oxley is a welcome addition to the Yorkville neighbourhood.

Top 10 Event
What are 10 things you should know before you die? The Top 10 Event asks a set of ten influential and inspirational speakers to share their stories and insight on this burning question. This year’s event is at the Winter Garden Theatre (189 Yonge Street) on May 10th, featuring speakers like former mayor David Miller, singer Jully Black, and celebrity chef David Rocco.

8th Annual Whiskey Gala
Roy Thompson Hall will house the 8th Annual Whisky Gala aka Spirit of Toronto on May 12th, showcasing dozens of the world’s best whiskys, bourbons, scotches – whatever your preference – alongside blind tastings, demonstrations, cocktails designed by acclaimed Yuki Yamazaki and Kentaro Wada, and of course, the MasterClass series.

SPIRITHOUSE opened quietly last week at 487 Adelaide Street W (at Portland), bringing a fantasmical menu of exquisite cocktails to the after-work crowd. The space is a mix of speakeasy chic and sophisticated elegance. The small menu is styled to pair with the cocktails, not the other way round, and includes some superb share plates to complete your evening.

Just Opened: The Chickery
Celebrity Chef David Adjey’s latest restaurant, at 130 Spadina Avenue, is all about chicken. No…really. Offering up casual fast dining, and “real tasty chicken and sides.” It opened officially on Tuesday, and judging by the buzz we’ve seen will have no problem attracting a crowd. It’s an awesome new spot to grab, er, pluck a quick and delicious meal that’s decidedly notable.
