Notable Now: January 6, 2012

Just Opened: Yours Truly
New Ossington restaurant/late night snack bar opened mid-December, and rather quietly so far as we can tell. Serving a daily prix-fixe 4-course meat or vegetarian dinner, this latest spot also bodes a rustic/industrial interior, awesome cocktails, and some late-night gastropub-style snacks.

Winterlicious 2012
Ah, Winterlicious, she’s back and, arguably, better than ever. If you’re like us, you’ll want to start planning your prix-fixe menu attacks now. Some of the city’s best restaurants are offering up spectacular 3- and 4-course meals for a fraction of the regular price, and they start taking reservations on the 12th. Check out the Notable guide here.

Soul Clap Benefit
NYC DJ Jonathan Toubin is in critical condition after a runaway taxi crashed into his hotel room in Portland, Oregon and ran over him while he slept in early December. Queen West hot spot Parts & Labour is playing host to Soul Clap, a night of funk, R&B, and soul to help benefit the pioneer DJ.

Next Stage Theatre Festival
The Next Stage Theatre Festival kicked off on Wednesday and runs through to the 15th. This theatre spectacle – known as a stepping stone between fringe and mainstream – features 10 groundbreaking plays and performances across a veritable tapestry of emotion and scene.

Psychic Brunch at Clinton’s
Here’s a little something off the beaten path. Bloor West spot Clinton’s plays host to the Psychic Brunch the second Sunday of every month (the next of which is this weekend, Sunday the 8th). Order up a pesto omelet with a side of foretelling. ($29 for the reading, includes a $5 menu voucher.)

Tuesday on the Thompson Rooftop
Boutique hotel the Thompson hosts its first Tuesday event on the acclaimed rooftop on the 10th, with a bevy of TO’s finest decked out in their glammest coats and sexiest warm-weather accessories (is there such a thing?) Resident DJ Dirty Dale will be spinning beats all night long for the fur-lined crowd.
