Energy Talks
On Friday, November 22nd, Dr Steven Chu will be in town with Hon. Jim Prentice to discuss the future of energy in North America. Dr. Chu was the former secretary of energy in the United States. Chu and Prentice will be covering many different topics including market access and regulations on greenhouse gases. This event will be taking place at 11:30am at the Calgary Convention Centre. A Night with Charles Mingus
Jazz YYC brings you an event called ‘Better Get Hit In Your Soul’ that celebrates the life and times of Charles Mingus through music and dance. Mingus was a respected composer and a talented bassist who wrote 300+ compositions during his career, before ALS cut his life short.

Pecha Kucha
On Monday, November 25th, the Calgary Arts Development is hosting the 18th YYC Pecha Kucha night. This time it’s all about medals. Various presenters will be talking about Olympic achievements and what it takes to win. Pecha Kucha features a series of speakers from a variety of backgrounds. A new topic is explored during each session, which is meant to inspire new conversations and ideas in the community. Tickets are $10 with all proceeding going to Invest YYC. The After Party
Starting on the 25th, you can catch Lunchbox Theatre’s newest play called ‘The After Party’. The story follows a cleaning lady and an IT guy, two people who are single during the holiday season and hate Christmas as a result. You’ll learn what kind of bond can be built between two people when it comes to hatred for the holidays. For tickets you can call: 403- 265-4292. Admission is $22. Family Helping Family
Nearly 11.8 million people were affected by the devastating typhoon that recently hit the Philippines. Family Helping Family: YYC for The Philippines is raising funds for UNICEF Canada to ensure that people who were devastated by the typhoon have access to clean water, food and medical attention. To show your support you can come out to National on 10th Avenue on Tuesday, November 26th, from 5 to 8pm. Tickets are available for a donation of $50. Admission includes snacks and entertainment, followed by a silent auction. National is located at 341 10th Avenue SW.

‘Twas The Night
On November 27th, the CORE shopping centre is throwing their second annual ‘Twas The Night, a very special event that will help everyone get into the holiday spirit. You can look forward to an evening filled with Christmas shopping and holiday entertainment while supporting five local charities. If you know of a family who could use a little Christmas cheer, you can nominate them by visiting country105.com. ‘Twas The Night runs form 6:30 to 10pm.
