Happening at the Epcor Centre (205 8 Ave SE), this exhibition will showcase new and independent Latin American films from seven countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Colombia, Guatemala and Uruguay.

Agriculture for Life Harvest Gala: Nov 3

Experience a fusion of urban and rural style and design, the scrumptious tastes of locally produced foods, the sights and sounds of Alberta artists, a silent auction, and a chance to connect with friends in the community market.

The Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival: Oct 27 – Nov 4
The 37th annual Banff Mountain Film Festival and Book Festival is in full swing, celebrating outdoors adventurers and explorers. Being held at The Banff Centre and various locations in Banff, the festival showcases the world’s best films, books, and photographs on mountain, environment, wildlife, exploration, adventure sports and culture subjects. Guest speakers and presenters include: Dr. David Suzuki, Dasho Kinley Dorji, Conrad Anker, and Gerlinde Keltenbrunner.

GIRAF Animation Festival: October 31 – Nov 4
A celebration of independent, underground and experimental animation, GIRAF showcases Canadian animators and presents all sorts of animation from around the world. Taking place at The Plaza Theatre (1133 Kensington Rd NW), the 2012 festival features workshops, artist talks, visiting artists, animation screenings and the 2nd Annual Log Drivers Waltz Gala and Plaid Party. 

Calgary Snow Show: Nov 3 + 4
Pumped to hit the mountains for the ski & snowboard season? Then the Calgary Snow Show is just for you. Get an all-access look at the upcoming ski and snowboard season’s new products and information. Being held at Spruce Meadows’ Equi-Plex (18011 Spruce Meadows Way SW), there will be all sorts of ski and snowboard retailers and pros, mountain ski resorts, training associations and travel information exhibitors to get you informed before the season. 

The Science Centre – Adults Only Night: Nov 8
Open late, the Science Centre is catering to the adult crowd with more authentic materials, expanded challenges and more involved programs. The theme this Thursday? Off the Grid (Survival Skills); aka. what would happen if some catastrophic event struck and you could no longer rely on modern conveniences to get by? While figuring this out, enjoy a licensed bar service and music throughout the night.
