Love Train
Love Train opens this week at Stage West, a play that is all about paying tribute to the many hits of Soul and R&B. You can expect to hear a little something from artists like Aretha Franklin, Chuck Berry, The Drifters, Etta James, Ike and Tina Turner, and Percy Stedge. And what is a celebration of Soul with James Brown? This performance will most definitely be featuring some of the classics from the Father of Funk. Calgary European Film Festival
The second annual Calgary European Film Festival kicks off on November 15th at the Globe Cinema. Over the weekend, the theatre will be showing films from Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, Czech Republic and France. There will be a variety of genres and all films will be in English with accompanying subtitles. Tickets are $10 per movie, or festival passes for 7 movies for only $50. A wrap-up gala will be held on Sunday, November 17. The Globe Cinema is located at: 617 8 Ave SW 

Hip Hop Karaoke and The Beatnuts
On November 18th JuJu and Psycho Les A.K.A. The Beatnuts will be at Commonwealth. This hip-hop team hail from Queens, New York and are known for making catchy club-friendly music. The Beatnuts have collaborated with hip-hop greats like Mos Def and Naughty by Nature. You might even remember their track ‘Watch Out Now’, which was used in J Lo’s hit ‘Jenny from the Block’. Commonwealth has tickets on sale now. Tickets are $18 and the show begins at 9pm.

Live Polar Obsession
On November 19th you should check out the National Geographic Live Polar Obsession. Paul Nicklen is a Canadian photojournalist who is coming to town to share his experiences and photos of his time spent in the Canadian Arctic. Nicklen’s time spent in areas like Baffin Island inspired his passion for the Great White North and all its creatures. Get ready to hear stories of adventure, moments of peril, close ups with empire penguins, and face to face encounters with a leopard seal. Tickets are $22 – $50. Show begins at 7pm. Anchor Steam Brewmasters Dinner
Craft Beer Market on November 19th is hosting an evening of great food and beer as well as some insight into the history behind the brewery and beer featured by Anchor Steam. Chef Eric Mah will be creating a unique four-course dinner to pair with their partner Brewmasters selection of beers. $60 per ticket. Each course is designed to cut or complement the beer while bringing out the flavour of both food and brew. Welcome beer at 6pm, first course served at 6:30pm. Please note this is a set menu. 

Dance Montage
On November 21st at 8pm you can attend Dance Montage at The University of Calgary. Each year dancers from all over Calgary’s dance community are asked to audition. The end result is a unique performance featuring a wide range of style and skill. The Dance Montage is a long-running tradition at the University of Calgary and has delighted audiences for years.
