All in all, there will be six stages, 30 performances and over 500 vendors. There will also be lots of patios to hit along the way so plan to meet friends for a nice lunch outdoors once you’re done cruising.

Foodie Fest In The Mountains
The Banff Rocky Mountain Food and Wine Fest is happening on May 30th and 31st. Tickets are flying and Saturday evening is already sold out, but you still have a chance to experience some culinary magic this side of the Rockies on Friday night and Saturday afternoon. Many of Banff’s top restaurants will be stationed at the Fairmont Banff Springs and there will also be a large assortment of scotch, spirits, wines and beers to try. You can also inquire about special hotel rates and special goings-on at restaurants in town. Visit the website for ticket prices and other deals.

May Market Collective
The next Market Collective is taking place from May 30th to June 1st so if you have friends coming into town or just want something fun to add to your weekend calendar, read on. This installment will be held at the Chinese Cultural Centre (197 1st Street SW) and admission is only $5. Band of Skulls
These English rockers have been a popular fixture on festival circuits and the Pitchfork website for the last few years. Their catchy brand of garage rock has led to several well-received studio albums including Baby Darling Doll Face Honey, Sweet Sour and their latest work, Himalayan. The group comes to Commonwealth on May 31st and tickets are $25. Make sure to note this is an early performance and doors are at 6 p.m. To get jazzed about the show you can listen to their new singles here; we highly suggest getting your tickets ASAP.

Tarot Party
The Bass Bus is Calgary’s ultimate party transportation and the crew behind the bus is also responsible for bringing YYC several cool events each year. On Saturday, May 31st they are presenting a night of music, art and dance. The Dirty Gramophones will be playing a funky set along with many more musical acts. There will be two stages, a gallery of art to check out and, to keep things esoteric, there will even be an aura reading booth. This won’t be an ordinary Saturday night. Tickets can be purchased here. The Tarot Party is being held at the Royal Canadian Legion #1.

Hidden Gems Film Fest
If international films are your cup of tea then you’ll love the Hidden Gems Film Fest that will be on from Thursday, May 22 to May 25th and again on Thursday, May 29th to June 1st. The Stanford Perrot theatre at ACAD will be screening some rare Bollywood features like Anumati (Assent), Tamaash (Puppet), and Goynar Baksho (The Jewellery Box), most of which are about two hours running time. Indian cinema is one of the biggest film industries outside of Hollywood and there are some truly interesting movies that are worth seeing.
