Notable Now Calgary: June 29, 2012

NOW OPEN: Village Ice Cream
Nothing says summer like an ice cream cone and Village Ice Cream is here to satisfy that craving. Located in Victoria Park (431, 10 Ave SE), they serve up small batches of all-natural ice cream using thick cream and unique ingredients such as huckleberries, pecans, cardamom and coconut. Flavours will rotate through the shop with new blends being added regularly. We suggest trying a scoop of the salted caramel, which they’ve promised will be a mainstay.

NOW OPEN: 80th & Ivy Wine Kitchen
The much anticipated 80th & Ivy Wine Kitchen opened its doors this past week on 17 Avenue (1127 -17 Ave SW). Created by Group 993 Hospitality, who also own Classic Jacks and 1410, it features a modern kitchen offering globally inspired bites and a bar that boasts some eye-opening (and mouth-watering) hand crafted cocktails. This sophisticated space is the perfect place to chill out with friends and colleagues.

live music, Village Brewery beer and the city’s movers and shakers. If you are curious about the art, why not ask the artists? They will also be in attendance.
