Find Your Patio
This time of year it’s all about finding a choice patio to spend sunny afternoons. Ki Modern Japanese is a great option if you’re looking for a spot that’s close to the office or just a quick detour off the bike path. This cool Japanese eatery has just updated their drink menu and put a spin on cocktails by adding sake to many classic options. Their Sake Mojito is just what the doctor ordered on a hot summer day.

Style Rodeo
To help you get into the spirit of Stampede, the CORE shopping centre is throwing a special party on July 2nd from 11am to 2pm. The Wild West and all the great fashion you can find at this swanky downtown centre have inspired the Style Rodeo, where attendees will have an exciting chance to participate in a shoe toss, a mannequin-dressing contest, and a garment bag race. There will also be a meet and greet with country superstar Keith Urban, which should be reason enough to attend. To learn more about the event, click here.

Stampede Parade
The annual Stampede Parade takes place on July 4th to kick off the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, and if you are a true Calgarian you should really plan to be there. Everything kicks off at 8:55am, but plan to arrive a little early to secure a decent spot so you can see the floats, performers, riders and VIPs that will be making their way through the procession. This year’s Parade Marshall is William Shatner and Sochi heroes Junio Gilmore and Denny Morrison will also be participating. To view the map of the parade route and to see who else will be parading, see here.

Sharon Van Etten
If you’re looking for something that won’t involve cowboy hats or country music, Republik is hosting the lovely Brooklyn chanteuse Sharon Van Etten on July 8th.

Described as neo folk, this songstress’ work has been covered by everyone from Bon Iver to The National. To get excited for the 8th you can listen to the new tracks from her latest album Are We There.  Shows begin early on weekdays so be there for 8pm. Tickets are $17 and can be found at:

Cowboys Night Club
Now, for those of you who want to catch a show that isn’t country or Western but still partake in the fun of Stampede, you can see some pretty interesting acts at the Cowboys Night Club over the next two weeks. On July 2nd Metric is going to be bringing her girly pop and sass to the venue (doors at 6pm) and then Snoop Dog is making an appearance (doors also at 6pm) on July 13th. Nothing says Stampede like a little Gin & Juice.

There’s no shortage of fun races to participate in this summer; here’s a great one that’s more of a party with a bit of running involved. Have you ever ran a race with fog machines and sound tunnels? On September 12th you can be part of the Electrodash at Canada Olympic Park that will include five kilometers of glow in the dark lights and lots of beats. Everyone will be provided with glasses and light-up accessories to make sure you look good running the course. After the race, everyone will be celebrating at the finish line with a crazy DJ dance party. First laser’s at 8pm. Sign up online today:
