Chuckwagon Finals (July 14 + 15)
Stampede is wrapping up this weekend and with that comes the much-anticipated GMC Rangeland Derby chuckwagon finals. Head down to the grounds early to get rush-seating tickets to these sold out events, and see first-hand who is going to walk away with the $1.15 million in prize money. If you can’t make it down to the Stampede grounds, the races will be televised live.

Avec Grand Opening (July 14)
Love French food and culture? Head to Avec Bistro (550 11th Ave SW) on Saturday between 12:00pm and 3:00pm for the official grand opening, and to celebrate Bastille Day (they are a French bistro, after all). They’ve already become a big hit since opening just a few weeks ago, so if you haven’t tasted Avec yet for yourself, this is the perfect opportunity to check them out.

4th Annual Bownesian’s Picnic (July 14)
Pack a picnic and head down to Baker Park (9333 Scenic Bow Rd NW) on Saturday between 12:00pm and 6:00pm for the 4th Annual Bownesian’s Picnic, which is funded in part by Calgary 2012. Find a spot in the grass (FYI: there will be a prize for best picnic setup) and relax with friends as you catch free shows by The Bitterweed Draw, The Pygmies, Buzz Elroy and His Hayseed Rockets, Los Morenos and The Bownesians. 

Canadian Transplant Games (July 15 – 22)
Support some of our Canadian heroes and catch an event at the Canadian Transplant Games, which are being hosted in Calgary throughout the week. Watch these tenacious and driven athletes put their skills to the test in track and field, swimming, tennis and more. 

Charcut Collaborative Chef Series (July 16)
Charcut is rolling out the red carpet Monday, July 16, for an evening that is sure to have your mouth watering. Join them for a reception and six-course dinner, with pairings, prepared by local chefs John Jackson, Connie DeSousa, and California chefs Hiro Sone and Lissa Doumani of Terra and Ame Restaurant. This collaboration between top chefs is sure to delight Calgary diners with delicious flavours and innovative dishes. Bon appetite! 

Heritage Park: Summer Concert Series (July 18th – Sept 5th)
Love music? Head down to Heritage Park (1900 Heritage Drive SW) Wednesday evenings for live music starting on July 18. Bring a blanket and some snacks, or reserve a table on the patio of the Selkirk Grille restaurant and enjoy a great night of free entertainment brought to you by Heritage Park and The National Music Centre.
