This special lecture series designed to motivate, challenge and enlighten anyone with an open mind and a strong desire to learn brings Amanda Lindhout to the Epcor Centre stage. As Founder and Executive Director of The Global Enrichment Foundation (GEF), hear her share her story about her work supporting development and aid in Somalia – the country where she once spent 460 days as a hostage. Formerly a freelance journalist, Amanda’s concern for the humanitarian crisis in Somalia led her to the war-ravaged nation in 2008. Following her release, she left journalism and became an unlikely and passionate advocate for the people of Somalia.

Join the National Music Centre team, friends and ‘family’ to kick off the development of this much-anticipated centre in the East Village. The party will be taking place at The Golden Age Club (610 8 Ave SE), featuring The Bobby Kork Orchestra, The High Kicks, Matt Masters and The Gentlemen of the Rodeo & The King Eddy Blues All-Stars.  Calgary food trucks will also be on site should you feel hunger strike. Doors open at 6:30pm.
